I’ve always subconsciously misread Granada Holmes as “Grenada Holmes”
And I thought
“Wouldn’t it be funny if Holmes and Watson wore Carnival costumes”
And then I blacked out and this happened.

reporter: So, why do you create these strong women characters?
Joss Whedon: Cause they're hot.
reporter: But...these strong women characters...
Joss Whedon: Why are you even asking me this? This is like interview number 50 in a row. How is it possible that this is even a question? Honestly? Seriously? Why are you ask - why did you write that down? Why do you - why aren't you asking a hundred other guys why they don't write strong women characters? I believe that what I'm doing should not be remarked upon, let alone honored, and there are other people doing it. But seriously, this question is ridiculous. And you've just got to stop.
reporter: So... why do you write these strong women characters?
Joss Whedon: Because equality is not a concept. It's not something we should be striving for. It's a necessity. Equality is like gravity. We need it to stand on this earth as men and women. And the misogyny that is in every culture is not a true part of the human condition. It is life out of balance, and that imbalance is sucking something out of the soul of every man and woman who is confronted with it.

Here's a free million dollar idea.

Someone should make an iPhone app that’s just a soundboard of all those melodramatic reality television music cues, bumpers, and stingers so folks can add tension and drama to their day-to-day conversations.
It’ll be a hit at brunch.
I’m givin’ away gold here, people.

We were discussing homosexuality because of an allusion to it in the book we were reading, and several boys made comments such as, “That’s disgusting.” We got into the debate and eventually a boy admitted that he was terrified/disgusted when he was once...

"If education was really about learning..." →
…we’d let kids ask more questions and then give them support to find their own answers.
…we’d see dunking milk in cookies as a science opportunity, not just a snack.
…we’d only give kids giant test booklets if they needed to use the paper build a tower to explore force & motion.
…we’d label our kids with terms like “mostly visual learner, hilarious, excels in reading, struggles with...
